I am the dust
Sitting in the awkward space between your bathroom cabinet
and the glass shower wall
I don’t know why I was created this way
In this space
But here I am
I know you see me
Every day for the past 11 years
Only twice have you cleaned and removed me
Since that second clean I have multiplied in ways even I could never have dreamed
I have seen all of your outfits
I know your before bed routine
I have seen your body change
through your first and your second pregnancy
I have seen the dirt on your legs from gardening
I have seen the sand fall from you when you return from the beach
I have seen you sick and bloated
The times your skin burned from the sun
Thank you for keeping me here
Even though I should not exist
